How to produce energy from volcanoes?

We chose to recharge Jio’s telephone using the energy of a volcano.

Is it really possible?

Here are some facts:

Volcanoes have huge quantities of energy which can be very useful for people. In just 1 cubic kilometer of erupted volcanic mass there is as much energy as you get by burning 50 million tons of oil. The energy of all the volcanoes on the Earth is enough to run 65 big power plants.

Some active volcanoes are already used to produce energy in Japan, the USA, Mexico, Italy and especially on the volcanic island of  Iceland where 5% of the energy are produced from volcanoes.

The volcano is like an underground boiling caldron. To recharge the puppet’s mobile we used the steam and boiling water which are heated by the magma whose temperature is between 600 and 1200 degrees Celsius. We used the steam to run a turbine and produce energy for Jio’s mobile and we used the boiling water to heat the villages nearby.

How to make your own volcano?

You need a plastic bottle, some vinegar, baking soda, washing detergent  and a straw.

Fill half of the bottle with vinegar and add some washing detergent. Then add the baking soda. There is a chemical reaction between the vinegar and the baking soda which releases CO2. It erupts out of the bottle just like volcanic lava.
