Decorations :
Generally, every household puts up a Chritmas tree, whether it be a real one or an artificial one.
It is decorated with baubles, tinsel and a star on the top. We may also hang stocking on the fireplace or around the house.
Sometimes, we might hang a Christmas wreath on the front door, a Ftaher Christmas on the front of the house and coloured lights around its exterior.
The meal :
On Christmas eve, French people often eat oysters, foie gras, a selection of poultry with chestnuts, white sausage and smoked salmon.
For dessert, there are Yule logs, chocolates and Christmas biscuits.
Presents :
In France, Father Christmas brings the presents. He arrives on a sleigh pulled by six flying reindeer and he enters the house either by going down the chimney or through the door. He places the presents at the foot of the Christmas tree.
In some families, they open the presents at midnight whereas in others they open them the following morning.
Father Christmas also fills up the stockings with sweeties.
