PRODUCTION OF ENERGY

USING THE POWER OF THE WIND

In Greece, because of the climate, we have a lot of wind especially in Greek islands. So, we decided to produce electric energy by using a windmill like those in Mykonos and Santorini. This type of energy is called “aeolian energy” in honour of the Greek ancient god of the wind “Aeolos”

Here in Greece we haven’t taken advantage of the Aeolian energy. This happens because to construct an Aeolian park is expensive and difficult.

In addition the use of the aeolian energy is friendly to the environment as it doesn’t pollute it. Another advantage of the wind is that replenishes continuously which means that is endless.

To create a wind generator we used the following materials: an aluminium can, blue and white cardboard, paper, toothpicks, string and glue.

First we stuck the white cardboard around the can. Cutting the blue cardboard we made two windows, a door and a roof. Using the toothpicks we made the propeller.

The wind turns around the propeller producing kinetic energy. This energy is turned to electric through the generator that is used for recharging Jio’s mobile phone.
