HOW EMMA RECHARGED HER MOBILE IN BULGARIA

While I was in Bulgaria the weather was quite stormy. This gave me the idea to recharge my mobile with the huge amount of electricity containing in the lightning bolts.
I attached a cable to the lightning conductor of the house that the Bulgarian children built for me and connected the other end of the cable to my mobile. Now I just had to wait.
Soon a lightning struck, it was caught by the lightning conductor and the electricity flow from the cable recharged my mobile.
EMMA IN BULGARIA

When I arrived in Bulgaria the weather was cold and snowy. The children showed me around the school and I joined in some lessons.
However the most interesting were the last days of my stay in Saint Sofia School when the weather started changing and you could already feel the spring in the air – the end of February and the beginning of March!
On February 28th the children celebrated the traditional Bulgarian Koukeri Festival. On that day the children dress like frightening creatures with masks and dance and sing folk songs. They also have big bells around their waists and ring them to chase away the evil spirits of winter and welcome the good spirits of spring.

On the next day we celebrated Baba Marta Festival. The whole school was decorated with art works made of red and white wool called “Martenichki”. They are attached to your clothes or worn around your neck or wrist and are tokens of health and good luck. All the children gave martenichki to each other and to their teachers. Of course, they gave me some martenichki too. The tradition says that when you see the first stork or swallow in the spring you should tie the martenichki on a blossoming tree. Maybe this will happen in Greece as this is the next stop of my journey!
