I arrived in Bulgaria just a few days before the summer vacation. Only the older children from 5th to 7th grade were still studying at school and the younger ones were already on holiday.

The children were serious and anxious because they were all sitting for their end-of-the-year exams. Luckily, their hard work paid back and they had excellent results.

What a fun we had on the last day before the holidays started! They have a great tradition here. The children have water fights and spray water over each other with water guns, balloons or just bottles until everyone is soaking wet. Even the school director sprays the children with a hose. The wettest ones are always the 7-graders who graduate from the school. They do it so that their way on through life runs “as smooth as water”. Just look at the fun we had!

HOW MARIA RECHARGED HER MOBILE IN BULGARIA

In Bulgaria the children made an experiment to recharge my mobile.

They had a big balloon full of air. They let the air out of the balloon and it started spinning a blade which was attached to a small dynamo machine. It transformed the energy of the air into electricity and re-charged my mobile.
