LORENZO IN BULGARIA

I arrived in Bulgaria in October. A beautiful autumn month, especially in Saint Sofia school which is in the mountain. There are not many celebrations in October and it was mostly studying at school but at the end of my stay we had a great Halloween party!

Halloween is becoming more and more popular in Bulgaria. It is real fun! On that day everyone dresses up in scary costumes and the school is beautifully decorated with Jack o’Lanterns, spider webs, spooky castles and other Halloween elements. The younger children go trick or treating and get loads of candies. The older ones have a masked ball with a disco, a “best costume” competition and a programme with many jokes and sketches. The whole day I was surrounded by witches, ghosts, vampires and even pirates. Just look at me with Captain Jack Sparrow!

HOW LORENZO RECHARGED HIS MOBILE IN BULGARIA

The water wheel was invented in ancient times. It was used to elevate the water and then transport it to a certain place. This way the energy of the water was transformed into another kind of energy – mechanical or electrical.

To make a water wheel the Bulgarian children used a long metal sheet. They made a wheel from it and then attached to it metal blades. The wheel really worked! The metal blades elevated the water and when it was falling down its mechanical power was transformed into electricity which recharged my mobile.
