Questo è il grafico delle varie fonti energetiche in Italia, risultato delle diverse inchieste e approfondimenti che hanno interessato anche gli effetti negativi dell'uso preminente delle fonti non rinnovabili.

This is the chart of the use of different energy sources in Italy, result of several investigations and insights that have also affected the negative effects of the prevailing non-renewable sources. 

 Una fonte energetica particolarmente presente in Toscana e a pochi chilometri dal nostro Istituto è quella GEOTERMICA.

An energy source particularly present in Tuscany and a few kilometers from our Institute is the geothermal energy.

La caldaia che produce vapore è un serbatoio naturale geotermico, situato al di sotto della crosta terrestre.
Il vapore portato in superficie per mezzo di trivellazioni più o meno profonde, viene convogliato in tubazioni, chiamate vapordotti, e inviato alla turbina     dove viene convertito dapprima in energia meccanica e quindi in energia elettrica per mezzo di un alternatore collegato alla turbina.
L’Italia è stato il primo paese al mondo a sfruttare l’energia geotermica (Toscana, 1913).

Attualmente questo tipo di energia fornisce circa l’1,5% della produzione totale dell’energia elettrica nazionale.

The boiler produces steam that is a natural geothermal reservoir, located below the earth's crust.
The vapor, brought to the surface by drilling more or less deep, is conveyed in pipes, called steam ducts, and sent to the turbine where it is converted first into mechanical energy and then into electricity via an alternator connected to the turbine.
Italy was the first country in the world to exploit geothermal energy (Tuscany, 1913).

Currently this type of energy provides about 1, 5% of the total production of domestic electricity.
